Life Coaching

“The good life is a process, not a state of being.”
– Carl Rogers

Are you considering a significant change…or already making one?

Perhaps you’re making a transition from one stage of your life to the next and want to prepare your way for a smooth landing.

Maybe you’re ready to spread your wings and embark on a new and exciting life adventure…to really go for what you want and never look back with regret at what “might have been”.

Are you trying to figure out how to bring more meaning and purpose into your life?

You may already know what you want to do but just aren’t sure of how to make your goal a reality.

Or is your first step to explore your options and figure out what you really want to do? Maybe you’d really love to make a major life change but the fear of the unknown and the perceived security of the familiar are holding you back.

Whatever your goal or challenge, let’s work together to get you to where you truly want to be.

My mission is to guide you to success on your journey. To best achieve that goal, I use a highly effective, evidence-based approach. This allows me to help you successfully navigate challenges, discover practical solutions, achieve your goals and make your dreams a reality. And most of my clients make significant progress a lot sooner than they expect!

All of the coaching tools and techniques I use are evidence-based. There’s research proving that they actually get results. I’d love to put my experience and expertise to work for you.

There are three essential steps to my coach approach. If you decide you’d like to work together, we’ll design a fully customized plan that focuses on achieving the goals that are most important to you. We’ll take full advantage of your unique strengths, experiences and resources, as well as addressing any challenges you may have, to create a plan that is the best possible fit for you.

Step One: Identify Your Starting Point, Desired Outcomes, and Options

First, we’ll take some time to discuss your current situation. We’ll get an accurate picture of where you are right now. Then we’ll focus in on clearly defining the goals you want to achieve.

Once we know our starting point and our desired outcomes, we’ll explore different options for helping you to make your goals a reality. Most clients find this a very enjoyable experience that leads to some “AHA” moments, a range of good options, and increased clarity around the goals we’ll be working on together.

Step Two: Exploring Your Unique Strengths, Experiences, and Resources

In this step, we’ll shine a bright light on your unique set of strengths, experiences and resources. Most people are pleasantly surprised to discover several that they never even knew they had.

We’ll explore the various ways in which we can best utilize your strengths and resources to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone, take consistent action, keep you focused and motivated during your journey, and work through any internal or external roadblocks standing in your way. We’ll also look at your previous life experiences to see what hidden gems we can tap into.

Step Three: Making it Real

And now the really exciting part! We’ll bring it all together to custom design and implement a practical plan to get you from where you are now to where you want to go. We’ll determine what it will take, map out your step-by-step path to success, address how we will work through any potential challenges, and do whatever it takes for you to achieve lasting, positive improvements in your life!

I’ve dedicated myself to life coaching because I believe that everyone deserves to happy and fulfilled in life. I want to help you get there. After all, you only pass this way once.

MOTIVATION and ACCOUNTABILITY are What Make the Real Difference

It’s the actions you take that ultimately determine your success in achieving your goals. I believe it’s my ability to motivate my clients to take the necessary actions AND my commitment to holding them accountable for completing those actions that set me apart as a coach.

Dear Jim,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your guidance over the last year.  In reflection, it is obvious to me that our coaching time together culminated in countless strong and significant threads in the fabric of my growth.

First, the consistency of our meetings.  We committed to once a week and although I do not make such commitments lightly, over time life happens and long-term commitments tend to fade for one party or another.  Not so with ours and this is a testament to your enthusiasm and follow through every single week.  Keeping me on task and accountable for myself and our work together.

I looked forward to our meetings and was pleased to have my progress echoed by your insight.  More often you offered me the space and direction to acknowledge and discover insight of my own.  You did so by providing a safe space – one I knew I did not need to fill with noise.  Instead, I was able to pause and think.  Your gentle questions or prompts guiding me to discover my own answers.  These light bulb moments were enthusiastically received – not just by me, but you as well.  I felt deeply supported.

Our appointments concluded with intentions and goals for the following week that resulted from the magical discoveries from our discussions.  In this way, I was able to see continued progress in my work, my personal growth and projects as the months flew by.

I once heard a quote that went something like “It is okay to rely on the belief and confidence others have in you, until you find these in yourself.”  Thank you for believing in and having confidence in me.  And thank you for helping me find both of these things in myself.  You exemplify what a life coach is and the human potential possible when guided by one.
